Automobiles in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Police reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.

A senior official commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
